MIAH'S HAIR REGIMEN.

Hey guys.
Initially, I wrote that I will be using my daughter to show natural hair care. I braided her hair over the weekend and will post the steps I used.
A little about miah's hair: It has never been cut and is 7 years old.
Products Used
I used a spritz bottle with water and wet her hair.
I took her previous hair style out
Shampoo
The remaining are in pictures :)

Deep Conditioner
After this step, part hair into 4 sections and comb from end to root. To do this I grasp her hair to provide some tension then gently use a wide tooth comb to detangle from section to section.
RINSE
Apply Coconut oil
Allow hair to air dry
Quick length check...niceness :)
Protective Braids
There you have it! It is definitely a labor of love the longer the hair is but it is so worth it. When I am braiding, I start on damp hair most times because it minimizes breakage with manipulation.

I hope this helps somewhat, till next time

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Its Val's day, the international day of love. Motherland hair has some words :)

Know that you are beautiful near or far
kinks, coils, press or curls
your hair doesn't define you
its an accessory
so style it as you like
BUT
Love your own first!
For any other love prior is misplaced
so from my family to yours
Happy Valentine's day
Hoping YOU are your first love!

The Weather Woman Who Lost Her Job for Defending Natural Hair and Black Kids.

Well, this is interesting. The picture to the right is Rhonda Lee's. She was a meteorologist at KTBS 3 news Shreveport, LA. She got fired for defending her hair as well as well as speaking her mind when someone said something ignorant about black children.

"Co-workers have had an intervention of sorts with me when I first started trying to get a weather job", Lee said. "They took me to lunch and told me, 'You're going to have to grow your hair out'"

These are the interactions that cost Lee her job

At the moment, she has still not gotten a job in the field despite the fact that people admired her courage. An African American male based at a Sacramento station said that her hair was "too aggressive" for his viewers.

Do you think what she did warranted the loss of her job? Was it the hair?

Who's the Newest Hair Blogger in Town?

Hi All!

So after talking to a couple of friends and clients, I decided to make a hair blog.

My name is Tosin Ayo-Vaughan, presently based out of California. I have been braiding my own hair for 15 years and professionally for almost a decade. I am currently in nursing and MBA school. I still braid hair sporadically, mainly prior clients, I'm swamped:(. I have a super beautiful 7 year old daughter who's images I will be using a lot (She has gorgeous hair!, SO JELLY!). I have been natural since 2010 and have been on a journey towards HEALTHY HAIR.

This blog will focus on reaching your own hair potential. Everyone is different, embrace your individuality. I have seen several blogs and videos that show results that people cant replicate. This doesn't mean you have failed, this doesn't mean you should get a perm. I aim to focus on HEALTH. Growth is a byproduct of it. If you focus on growth only, breakage can take you back to square one.

My Blog Promises
  1. I will make posts that are easy to read (Less words, more pictures).
  2. I will only recommend products that I have used and like.
  3. I will share my healthy hair routines.
  4. I will acknowledge my errors. (after all, I am human).
  5. I will attempt to increase self haircare awareness while using extensions.
  6. I will actively search for haircare innovations and trends.
  7. I will connect subscribers with means to purchase products.
Here's to treating our OWN hair better than "human hair" weaves.
